There’s a great deal of tweeting happening about the Human Face of Big Data, and the lion’s share is coming from the powerhouse that is EMC on Twitter.
With hundreds out there, there was one tweet that struck me. An IBM account shared in the excitement:
I was part of a few conversations that this tweet threw off. After ruminating on what it means, it reminded me of two huge points that could never be highlighted enough:
- Big Data is incredibly exciting to the entire industry*
- An independent company is running the HFOBD, not EMC
The company that IS running HFoBD is Against All Odds Productions. They, in their own words, create global media projects which combine compelling story-telling with state-of-the-art technology.
Our collaborative projects result in global TV shows, best-selling coffee table books, interactive media and exhibits which have generated billions of impressions.
Content for each project is created by hundreds of the world’s top journalists and millions of empowered crowd sourced contributors.
And one more group of people – those with incredible stories to share, like Sebastian.
At the end of the day, Big Data is exactly as it says. It’s big. It’s data-driven. It’s big enough to excite us all, and it’s important enough for EMC to invest in us understanding. There are so many stories that need to be told.
The Nerdherd’s Word
* I say “Big Data is incredibly exciting to the entire industry,” but what I really mean is that Big Data is incredibly important to the entire world.
I’m in. Are you?
